Meet our Executives
TM’s executives have over 30 years of real estate investment, management and development experience, years of high-level education and backgrounds in fields such as finance, construction, and project management.
TM Real Estate Group founder Matthew Pellar has three decades of real estate experience and is the responsible for the strategy of the company.
Throughout his career, he has worked in all aspects of multi-family real estate including leasing, property management, entitlements, development, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. Collectively, he has overseen projects from development to sales of over 1,6000 condominium and market-rate housing units. He has also managed all aspects of due diligence and financial modeling for over $925 million in net lease transactions.
Prior to founding TM, he held executive positions at H&H Development, Terremark Real Estate Group and The Related Group of Florida as well as an associate position at US Realty Advisors, LLC. Matthew holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.A. from Boston University.
Carlos Alcaraz has two decades of experience in the fields of real estate, public accounting, and finance. An integral part of TM’s growth, he is responsible for all accounting and financial functions, including various aspects of property management, financing and loan compliance.
Prior to TM, he was CFO of SOL Sotheby’s, which grossed over $400 million in annual sales during his tenure. Carlos has also served as the VP of Finance for Empire Seafood, where he was instrumental in the integration and reorganization for the acquisition of a privately-held corporation with $140 million in sales by Performance Food Group, the third largest U.S. Food distributor.
A veteran in the industry, Carlos has held various positions in both private and public companies including Terremark Worldwide, Fleming Companies, and Ruesch International. He has a CPA degree and a B.C. in Accounting from Concordia University. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
Rene Gutierrez is a founding member of TM Residential, LLC. With over two decades of experience in real estate and multi-family development, he has entitled and developed over 4,250 units in the state of Florida.
Prior to founding TM Residential, Rene was a founding partner of Atlantis Development LLC, a multi-family development company based in South Florida. At Atlantis, Rene was responsible for the acquisition, entitlement, and development of over 600 townhomes and garden apartments.
Rene has held senior level positions at Cornerstone Development Group and Terremark Real Estate Group, Inc. overseeing all phases of development. He began his real estate career at Arthur Andersen’s real estate practice assisting clients with acquisition and disposition of their income-producing real estate. He holds a B.A. and an MBA with concentrations in Finance from the University of Miami.
Joan Copeland brings over 30 years of property management experience to her role overseeing day-to-day operations of TM Real Estate Group. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for 100 fee-managed properties in Florida with a total of 5,000 affordable units, overseen over 18,000 market-rate units, and supervised the operation of 34 owner-operated properties.
Prior to TM, Joan served as EVP of Operations for Landmark Residential, where she was responsible for the oversight of 54 properties. She has held senior positions at Riverstone Residential and Banyan Realty Management where she repositioned properties and assisted in acquiring new fee-based clients.
Joan holds CAPS Accreditation from the National Apartment Association, LCAM from the State of Florida and a Florida Real Estate License, and she has served on various apartment association Board of Directors and committees.
Ivan I. Heredia
Ivan I. Heredia is an Executive Vice President with TM Residential, LLC. His career focus has been to execute and deliver luxury multifamily and condominium projects to the Florida Market. Delivering over 4000 units in the last 20 years, Ivan has brought his design and construction experience for each project he has completed.
Prior, Ivan served as the Senior Director of Development for Greystar focusing on the South Florida region and was responsible for the daily activities in this market, including site sourcing and land acquisition, entitlements, permitting, and follow up of the development process.
In addition to his experience at Greystar, Ivan also was with the Penn Florida Companies where he launched a new luxury rental community in Boca Raton named Via Mizner. Prior to Penn Florida, Ivan spent 12 years first hired as Project Manager rising to Vice President of the Related Group where he delivered over 20 rental and condominium communities to the South Florida market including the Venture at Aventura and Boca Grand Condominium. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Real Estate Finance from the same institution.
Adam Link is a Senior VP with TM Residential, LLC. With over 15 years of experience in real estate acquisition and development, Adam has focused on the Florida/Southeast US multifamily markets with a specialty in land acquisition, market analysis and underwriting, financing, and asset management.
Prior to joining TM, Adam held a senior-level position at BBX Capital where he assisted in the overall acquisition, development, and management of over 2500 multifamily units and over 700 for-sale single-family homes and townhomes. Adam was featured as part of the BBX team that received the 2016 Daily Business Review’s “Deal of the Year” award.
In addition to his experience at BBX, Adam brings a broad array of CRE development, value-add, and finance experience to TM. He worked for Bay Harbor International Realty in Miami focusing on underwriting, valuation, leasing, and management of multifamily projects and retail shopping centers. Also, Adam worked for Castle Development Group where he helped to develop luxury multifamily and condo units in New York City. Adam was an associate investment banker for Scully Capital Services where he worked on underwriting various CRE value-add deals and M&A infrastructure transactions. Adam began his career at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in Washington, DC.
Adam holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia and a M.S. in Real Estate Development from New York University. Adam is a board member of Jewish Family Home Care of Broward and a little league baseball coach.
Adnan Tareen has a decade of experience working in the real estate and finance sectors. He is responsible for managing all phases of the development cycle from predevelopment through stabilization.
Prior to joining TM, Adnan worked at Atlantic Pacific Communities where he managed the underwriting, entitlements, sourcing, design, and construction of over 1,000 units in Florida and Texas, including the first LEED for Neighborhood Development project in Florida. Previously he also worked at OneWest Bank where he provided strategy and analysis in the management of a $1 billion debt portfolio consisting of REO’s and distressed loans.
Adnan holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Real Estate Development and Urbanism from the University of Miami.
