Our Team
TM’s executives have over 30 years of real estate investment, management and development experience, years of high-level education and backgrounds in fields such as finance, construction, and project management.
Matthew Pellar
TM Real Estate Group founder Matthew Pellar has three decades of real estate experience and is responsible for the strategy of the company.
Throughout his career, he has worked in all aspects of multifamily real estate, including leasing, property management, entitlements, development, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. Collectively, he has overseen projects from development to sales of over 1,6000 condominium and market-rate housing units. He has also managed all aspects of due diligence and financial modeling for over $925 million in net lease transactions.
Prior to founding TM, he held executive positions at H&H Development, Terremark Real Estate Group and The Related Group of Florida as well as an associate position at US Realty Advisors, LLC. Matthew holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.A. from Boston University.
Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz has two decades of experience in the fields of real estate, public accounting, and finance. An integral part of TM’s growth, he is responsible for all accounting and financial functions, including various aspects of property management, financing and loan compliance.
Prior to TM, he was CFO of SOL Sotheby’s, which grossed over $400 million in annual sales during his tenure. Carlos has also served as the VP of Finance for Empire Seafood, where he was instrumental in the integration and reorganization for the acquisition of a privately-held corporation with $140 million in sales by Performance Food Group, the third-largest U.S. Food distributor.
A veteran in the industry, Carlos has held various positions in both private and public companies including Terremark Worldwide, Fleming Companies, and Ruesch International. He has a CPA degree and a B.C. in Accounting from Concordia University. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
Rene Gutierrez
Rene Gutierrez is a founding member of TM Residential, LLC. With over two decades of experience in real estate and multi-family development, he has entitled and developed over 4,250 units in the state of Florida.
Prior to founding TM Residential, Rene was a founding partner of Atlantis Development LLC, a multi-family development company based in South Florida. At Atlantis, Rene was responsible for the acquisition, entitlement, and development of over 600 town-homes and garden apartments.
Rene has held senior-level positions at Cornerstone Development Group and Terremark Real Estate Group, Inc. overseeing all phases of development. He began his real estate career at Arthur Andersen’s real estate practice assisting clients with acquisition and disposition of their income-producing real estate. He holds a B.A. and an MBA with concentrations in Finance from the University of Miami.
Joan Copeland
Joan Copeland brings over 30 years of property management experience to her role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of TM Realty Services. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for 100 fee-managed properties in Florida with a total of 5,000 affordable units, overseen over 18,000 market-rate units, and supervised the operation of 34 owner-operated properties.
Prior to TM, Joan served as EVP of Operations for Landmark Residential, where she was responsible for the oversight of 54 properties. She has held senior positions at Riverstone Residential and Banyan Realty Management, where she re-positioned properties and assisted in acquiring new fee-based clients.
Joan holds CAPS Accreditation from the National Apartment Association, LCAM from the State of Florida and a Florida Real Estate License, and she has served on various apartment association Board of Directors and committees.
Adnan Tareen
Adnan Tareen is Vice President of TM Residential. He has a decade of experience working in the real estate and finance sectors. He is responsible for managing all phases of the development cycle from Pre-development through stabilization.
Prior to joining TM, Adnan worked at Atlantic Pacific Communities where he managed the underwriting, entitlements, sourcing, design, and construction of over 1,000 units in Florida and Texas, including the first LEED for Neighborhood Development project in Florida. Previously he also worked at OneWest Bank where he provided strategy and analysis in the management of a $1 billion debt portfolio consisting of REO’s and distressed loans.
Adnan holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Real Estate Development and Urbanism from the University of Miami.
